gate-Startup OmegaLambdaTec wins at 175th Unicorn Battle
Garching Deep Tech startup OmegaLambdaTec GmbH has won the final at the 175th Unicorn Battle in Berlin. The team won recognition against nine competitors and convinced the topp-class jury by its intelligent AI-solution for automated detection and localization of leakages in drinking water installations.
The wolrdwide series „Unicorn Battle“ is organized by Startup.Network, KPMG and Silicon Valley Syndicate Club. The ambitious series offers Startups the chance to pitch to a high-class jury. The latter one is composed of deputies of venture-capital-companies, business angels and other investors. Ten finalists had the chance to convince them of their products in 3-minute-pitches and to attract the attention of potential investors.
The OmegaLambdaTec team came out on top with its solution and won the battle. Thus, the gate startup qualified for the worldwide final in Silicon Valley in April 2020. „We are very happy about this accolade of the investors’ jury. It enormously increases our chance of an investment, in order to develop our intelligent solution to a scalable product in the near future.“, Rene Fassbender, founder and CEO of OmegaLambdaTec, comments the prize. By means of an investment, OmegaLambdaTec wants to promote the product development and grow further.
OmegaLambdaTec’s solution offers an automated water leakage detection and localization. Thereby, data from existing and future sensor systems in drinking water installations are used to an optimum. This allows for a 24/7-monitoring of all flow sensors, whereby newly forming leakages may be detected automatically at an early stage by means of signal extraction. In addition, by means of this innovative methode of the so-called „simulation-based virtual triangulation“, an exact localization of the leakage will be possible.
This might add up to 90% cost reduction with leakage localization, as well as to allow for the identification and faster detection of up to 5 times more drinking water leakages. An additional advantage is the prevention and minimization of secondary damages by undetected leakages, e.g. by subsurface erosion of streets. In addition, the waste of drinking water is reduced significantly and thus, the sustainability balance of water suppliers is improved. With this solution, OmegaLambdaTec soon wants to offer the efficient leakage localization as a product within drinking water installations having existing sensor technology. By winning the competition, the team proves the great benefit of data science for municipal enterprises, too.
