gate startup Devanthro starring in new ARD TV show

news

Robody, the humanoid robot system for geriatric care developed by gate-startup Devanthro, is in the center of the action in two episodes of the ARD dramedy serial “Wo Wir Sind Ist Oben”, which was launched on June 14, 2024. The TV show, produced by Susanne Porsche and Felix Fichtner from Isarstrassen Film, shows two lobbyists striving for power and prestige from behind the scenes in politics while helping to shape the future of Germany.

The episodes dramatize the difficulties of funding and regulating deep tech startups in Germany and the possibility of real connection in human-robot interaction.

Founder and CEO Rafael Hostettler said: “We were incredibly honored when the film crew contacted us about filming with our Robody in the episodes highlighting these topics. We were thrilled immediately with the plot and the appropriate story twist. The global humanoid robotics race has begun, and if Germany is to have any chance at competing, there is an urgent need to rethink funding and regulations for the national robotics scene. Many industries now need this technology – the staff shortage is critical across all sectors. We need a solid campaign.”

Alona Kharchenko, CTO, co-founder and Forbes 30-under-30, adds: “Part of our daily work at Devanthro is to create an awareness of the crisis in geriatric care and ensure that the unrealistic expectations of autonomous robots caring for our elderly family members do not limit the ability to deliver real robotic solutions, while keeping the human touch, experience and empathy, quite literally, ‘in the loop’! That’s what Devanthro is all about.”
